Game of the Century
The Game of the Century is a famous chess game that was won by the 13-year-old future World Chess Champion Bobby Fischer against Donald Byrne in the Rosenwald Memorial Tournament at the Marshall Chess Club in New York City on October 17, 1956. The following game, a stunning masterpiece of combination play performed by a boy of 13.
The combination was started when Donald made Bg5 on move 11 and then Fischer found a shocker Na4!!. The point is that Donald broke the basic opening principle by moving his same piece twice. Instead of Bg5 better was Be2 follow by castles. Fischer not only played combinative chess but also he sacrificed his queen and played with tremendous compensation. In the end Fischer's piece co-ordinates to force checkmate.
